NASA recruits crew for year-long Moon and Mars simulation
Volunteers will live in two confined habitats while researchers test people, hardware and mission systems.
NASA is recruiting volunteers for an approximately year-long Moon and Mars Exploration Analog beginning no earlier than August 2027. Participants will live in two confined habitats at Johnson Space Center with isolation and resource constraints.
The programme combines elements of HERA and CHAPEA, including simulated Mars walks and rover trips, while researchers assess crew performance, hardware, protocols and long-duration mission systems.
