Museum opens a century of Australian Antarctic stories
A free Canberra exhibition brings rarely displayed Antarctic objects, science and expedition history into an immersive visitor experience.
The National Museum of Australia's Antarctica exhibition runs in Canberra from 1 July to 11 October. It spans more than 100 years of Australian stories, from early explorers to modern station expeditions.
Rare Australian Antarctic Division objects are appearing publicly for the first time since acquisition, alongside scientific instruments, vehicles, animals, weather effects, a code game and accessible quiet-hour sessions.
Entry requires booking.
Why it mattersThe exhibition makes Australia's long Antarctic presence tangible through objects that have largely remained outside public view.
