Privacy & Content Policy

Plain language. Last updated 30 June 2026.

The short version

InSnip is a fast feed of source-backed news snippets. We collect as little as possible and run no third-party advertising or tracking. You can use the whole app without an account. Signing in is optional, and only adds cross-device sync.

What is stored on your device

What is sent to us

To learn which topics resonate, the app may send anonymous engagement events, such as a card being viewed, expanded, reacted to, or saved, to our own lightweight endpoint. Each event carries only the anonymous identifier above, the card or category involved, and a timestamp. We do not build IP-based profiles, device fingerprints, or any advertising profile, and we never sell or share this data. Analytics are best-effort: if a request fails, the app works exactly the same.

If you sign in (optional)

You can sign in with Google to sync your saved snippets and preferences across devices. If you choose to, we receive your email address, name, and profile photo from Google, and use them only to identify your account. Every feature works without signing in. To delete your account and the data tied to it, email us at the address below and we will remove it.

Notifications (optional)

If you turn on notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can send the daily drop and timely updates. We do not use it for anything else, and you can turn notifications off at any time in your device or app settings.

Cookies & third parties

InSnip sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The app loads web fonts from Google Fonts, small source favicons from Google's favicon service, and uses Google Firebase for optional sign-in and notification delivery; these requests are governed by Google's own policies. Card images are hosted by us. All data travels over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.

News content & takedown requests

InSnip summarises and links to publicly available reporting, always crediting and linking the original source so you can read it in full. We respect publishers' rights. If you are a rights holder and would like a summary corrected, attributed differently, or removed, contact us using the address below and we will respond promptly.

Your choices & data deletion

You can clear local data at any time by clearing app or site data. To request deletion of any data we hold about you, including an account created by signing in, email us at the address above and we will remove it.

Children

InSnip is a general-audience news product and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the date at the top of this page.
